I started taking photos at 15
with my father's Argus film camera that had a view finder
separate from the lens.
I had my own dark room
in the basement.
Over 50 years later
I have more modern equipment, but the excitement of seeing an image come to life in a digital "developer tray" is still with me.
As a nature photographer, I have sold images to friends & customers through private showings, public contests, and camera clubs.
I have won competition awards,
and throughout the 2023 summer
had regional nature images displayed with
The Carolina Nature Photographers Association
at The Cradle of Forestry
near Brevard, NC.
Henri Cartier-Bresson wanted to
"capture the eternity of a gaze in the blink of an eye,"
the gaze that goes between
the photographer and his subject.
Which one is the observer
and which one is being observed?
Jean-Claude Monet paintings helped me
see the world through the lens
as splotches of color,
geometric shapes,
and I push through them
to ABSTRACTION
— to something not yet seen.
